FAQs
How do I know if acupuncture is right for me?
Please read under “specialties” for common conditions. If your condition is not listed or you have further questions, I offer a free 10 minutes consultation for new clients to see if acupuncture/herbal medicine are the right fit for you.
It is important to check with your own resonance about the modalities and the practitioner. The patient-practitioner relationship would only be beneficial when it is the right fit. If you need referrals, we are happy to help.
What does Acupuncture feel like?
In general, acupuncture doesn’t hurt. You might feel a light prick when the needle is inserted. Once the needle is inserted, you might feel a light pressure around the insertion.
However, more sensations like contracting/pulsing/wave going through muscles can be experienced with dry needling/myofascial trigger point therapy and electro-acupuncture.
Patients often reported feeling more calm and more relaxed during and/or after treatment. If you have further concerns, please check in with the practitioner prior to the treatment.
How many treatments will I need?
It depends on a few factors. In general, acute issues like sprained ankle, pain occurring for the first time can often be resolved within 1-4 treatments, while chronic issues like back pain, digestive issues, women’s health issues, often see improvements within 4-10 treatments.
In your initial visit, we will go over a detailed intake including your current signs and symptoms, medical history, then a recommended treatment plan based on the intake and findings.
Does Aurora Acupuncture accept insurance?
We are out of network with insurances. However, we are happy to provide a super bill for you to submit to your insurance company. If you have out of network benefits, the insurance company may determine on reimbursement rates. Please contact your insurance company for specific details.
